| October isn’t just about falling leaves and pumpkin spice—it’s also Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a cause that runs deep in the heart of Mending The Scarred. Every statistic represents a real story, a real survivor, and a real opportunity to bring hope. This month, we stand together to break the silence, uplift those in need, and remind the world that healing is possible. Together, we can make a difference in ways that truly matter! | |

Silent Soles, Loud Truths: Honoring Lives Lost & Empowering Survivors |

Each pair of shoes in this image once belonged to someone with dreams, laughter, and a future—until their life was stolen by violence. These empty shoes serve as a haunting reminder of lives cut short, stories left unfinished, and voices silenced too soon. They can no longer speak, but we can. Their stories call us to action, urging survivors to break the silence and reminding us that change happens when we stand together. This month, we honor their memory not just with reflection, but with action. Their stories call us to break the silence, to support survivors still fighting for their freedom, and to work toward a world where no more shoes are left behind. Change happens when we stand together—when we listen, when we speak up, and when we act. Whether by sharing your voice, offering your time, or simply spreading awareness, you can be part of the movement that turns pain into purpose.

Under the warm glow of the event lights, the dedicated women of Mending The Scarred stand proudly at their booth, surrounded by purple gift bags, awareness ribbons, and a powerful message of resilience. Their table is more than just a display—it’s a testament to survival, strength, and a call to action against domestic violence. Each sash they wear tells a story. Each item on the table—whether it’s a carefully curated gift basket, an information card, or a purple ribbon—carries a purpose: to raise awareness, to heal, and to remind every passerby that they are not alone. But here’s the head-scratcher: how many people walking through this event have been impacted by domestic violence yet remain silent? How many have brushed past, thinking, "That doesn’t affect me"—when the reality is, it touches more lives than we dare to admit? Mending The Scarred isn’t just here to make noise; we’re here to break cycles, build hope, and challenge perceptions. And that day, under the canopy, conversations sparked, hope grew, and change took root—one interaction at a time.

One Theme, Many Hearts Each month, our English and Spanish chapters in Orlando share the same monthly theme—each in their own time and space. These gatherings spark reflection, conversation, and connection. Every chapter provides a flyer with meeting details, and our Spanish-speaking community has a dedicated group offering the message fully in Spanish. Wherever you join, you’ll find belonging, growth, and encouragement for the journey. This Month’s Topic: In the Midst of Disorder Life can feel messy and confusing—like too many signs pointing in different directions. This month we’ll look at the Samaritan woman’s story (John 4:17–18) and talk honestly about how disorder shows up in our own lives. Together we’ll learn simple, faith-filled ways to find God’s clarity and direction.

Together, We Can Break the Cycle of Trauma | At Mending The Scarred, we believe every woman deserves the chance to heal, rebuild, and thrive after trauma. Many survivors of domestic violence and other hardships face overwhelming challenges—homelessness, financial instability, and emotional wounds that can feel impossible to heal alone. That’s where we step in. We offer real, life-changing support: counseling, job assistance, emergency aid, food, clothing, medical care, and access to education. But we don’t stop there. Imagine a place where survivors find not just shelter, but a space to rebuild hope. Mending The Scarred is working toward launching a transitional housing program here in Florida—a secured, temporary home designed to support women in their most fragile moments. Your support today brings us one step closer to making that vision a reality. Together, we can create a future where healing is housed with dignity. This mission isn’t just about meeting basic needs—it’s about empowerment. We want women to move beyond survival, to become confident, self-sufficient, and ready to build a bright future. But we can’t do this alone. Your support—whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word—can change lives. Together, we can give women the fresh start they deserve. Will you join us?

Sponsor a Survivor Imagine the profound impact you can have on a woman who has endured the unthinkable—abuse, trauma, and heartache. Your sponsorship isn't just a donation—it's an investment in the restoration of a life. It’s a chance to show a woman who has suffered that she is seen, valued, and worthy of the care and healing she so desperately needs. Every session provides a safe space for her to process her pain, rebuild her self-worth, and reclaim the strength that trauma tried to take from her.
